Ray Woolley, founder of Environoise Consulting, has decades of expertise in acoustics,. His career began at Pilkingtons and BRE and he contributed to the assisted resonance scheme at the Royal Festival Hall. Ray has managed significant projects especially in power generation including CCGT, nuclear, gas and coal fired, and. He is also experienced in maritime and industrial noise control.Ray says: “It’s been really rewarding to see Environoise evolve. We’ve grown an enthusiastic, talented team. Our expertise in architectural and planning acoustics is a testament to our collective commitment.” Outside work, Ray is a keen award-winning photographer, a mountaineer who loves Snowdonia and the Lakes, and is perhaps happiest watching Rugby Union with a ‘wee dram’ of good malt whisky.

Miles Woolley leads the team at Environoise Consulting, bringing decades of experience in architectural acoustics. He has developed a strong reputation for his work on new-build designs for major hotel operators and has managed projects for leading brands. His expertise spans a variety of sectors, also including schools, filming stages, multi-storey offices, and mixed-use residential projects.

Miles says: “At Environoise, we focus on more than just delivering exceptional reports; we prioritise a positive work culture with initiatives like the four-day work week, graduate milestones, and regular social events.”

Outside of work, Miles enjoys martial arts, going to the gym, and sampling different vodkas. He is dedicated to driving the business pipeline and ensuring strong employee retention.

Paul is based near Bristol and manages our activities in the south. He has considerable experience in acoustics of the built environment including schools and colleges, hotels, residential complexes and community lifestyle centres. A large part of his experience has been informing planning applications for residential, hotel and commercial developments with his in-depth acoustics knowledge. He has also provided design and construction stage support for a number of hotel, office, school and college developments; the latter including internationally recognised institutions. Paul provides invaluable support to his colleagues on the complex projects particularly when trying to meet a target whilst offering value engineering options. He is an expert in computer noise modelling which forms an integral part of our comprehensive acoustics service.

Sam joined us after completing his MSc in Audio Production and oversees the graduate training scheme. His skillset includes acoustic assessments across planning, architectural and maritime sectors with specialism in noise modelling using SoundPLAN and CATT to accurately predict outdoor noise propagation and how sound behaves indoors and out.

Proud new father and keen mountaineer, climber and runner Sam has some notable sporting feats including completing The Welsh 15 Peaks challenge; a marathon in Athens – oh and he was awarded a 1st Degree black belt in Tang Soo Do Karate… aged just eight years old.

With 30 years of experience in audio systems and an MSc in Audio Acoustics from Salford University, Andrew brings a wealth of expertise to Environoise. Prior to his Master’s, he earned a degree in Mathematics and Physics from the Open University, showcasing his commitment to learning. An ANC-accredited sound insulation tester, Andrew has provided façade reviews, plant noise impact assessments, and noise at work assessments – particularly in the maritime sector.

Andrew shares, “Every day at Environoise is different – you’re always made to feel welcome. We take pride in doing things the right way, and it shows in our work.” Outside of consulting, Andrew enjoys spending time with his family sharing their enjoyment of music, cinema, theatre, football, and food.

Kate Wilcox manages Environoise’s finances, overseeing debt control and ensuring suppliers are paid promptly. She studied at the University of Nottingham, spending a year at Bordeaux Business School as part of her French degree, which gave her a strong grasp of business finance. Known for her professional and approachable manner, Kate handles all client interactions with ease. “It’s rewarding to keep the company running smoothly, ensuring we meet financial obligations while maintaining great relationships with clients and suppliers.” Kate commented. Kate has brought up four young adult children with her husband and has a strong interest in fashion and interior design as illustrated by her lovely family home. She keeps fit with her friends through Pilates, balancing her creative interests with a love of staying active.

Edward Beynon’s path into acoustics began with an MPhys degree from the University of Liverpool, where his work growing the first crystalline thin films of PtSn₄, is now awaiting publication. His passion for sound started when he taught himself to play bass guitar, sparking his interest in acoustics.

As a Senior Acoustics Technician at Environoise, Edward conducts noise and vibration surveys, performs detailed data analysis, and provides comprehensive acoustic reports.Edward says: “What excites me about Environoise is the variety of acoustic challenges and the chance to learn from the team.”

A keen rugby player, Edward combines technical expertise with a love for problem-solving—and with his smooth, engaging voice, he might be the first person you speak to at Environoise.
