Environoise Consulting provides the acoustic services needed to support the development of small to large scale transport infrastructure schemes. We design noise mitigation schemes and prepare technical reports with Value Engineering in mind. We assess the noise impact of new roads used to facilitate these developments.
Roads
Sites such as retails parks, leisure centres, sports facilities and cinemas often need new roads to service them. In turn this leads to increased traffic in the area. Environoise Consulting works with traffic consultants who provide traffic data. We use the data to accurately predict potential changes in noise level in the short and long term. The road layout and topographical screening, whether existing or recommended, is assessed to reduce the level of noise impact. Noise predictions for roads or change of traffic flow are done in accordance with two procedures:
- Calculation for Road Traffic Noise (CRTN)
- Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB).
Lifestyle Centres
Recently, ‘Lifestyle Centres’ which are buildings created for use by the local community have become popular. They provide a variety of services and needs. Environoise Consulting has completed the acoustic design of these centres to achieve good acoustic separation between spaces and reverberation control.
Fire Stations
The location of emergency services and particularly fire stations in a town centre can create noise problems. The noise impact from sirens and training drills using water pumps and cutting equipment needs assessing. Environoise has completed several design studies for fire stations including a training centre of multiple scenarios.
